Using plain English this one day course will introduce you to the world of germs, what they are and the diseases they cause, what DNA is, how it passes on messages and how it is used in the laboratory to diagnose infections. You will hear about the scary germs that can lurk in the kitchen and why there are problems with antibiotic resistance ie "super bugs". Visit the electron microscope to see these "invisible" invaders, have a go at some safe practical microbiology and see how well you wash your hands.
Visit a laboratory and discover all about germs and diseases, explained in plain English. Your questions will be answered. This course is suitable for everyone, and no previous knowledge is required.
