Postgraduate Study at the Health Protection Agency

The Centre for Infections at Colindale runs an active Postgraduate Group, comprising both full-time and part-time research students, and provides onsite support and guidance for over 25 students per year.

In 2008, the Centre obtained Open University (OU) Affiliated Research Centre (ARC) status, which enables students to be registered with the OU. Alternatively students can be registered with a wide range of other universities via research and supervisory collaborations.

Postgraduate Training Sub-Committee

The group comprises an active Postgraduate Committee, which provides support structure, monitoring and guidelines for those engaged in postgraduate study. It manages a Generic Skills Training programme, which provides students with competency in a wide range of generic skills, as detailed by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAAHE).

Postgraduate Students Association

There is a Postgraduate Students Association which is a vehicle whereby students views are represented via a student representative on the committee. The students association also organises a seminar series with contributions from current students working and studying at the centre, together with an annual poster presentation day. The seminars and posters are primarily designed to allow students to practice presentation skills and receive feedback from their peers, and is also an ideal opportunity to hear about research across the centre.
