We're the people asking the big questions about how best to protect the nation's health and well being. An independent body, our remit covers the entire spectrum of health protection issues, from predicting the spread of infectious diseases to minimising the effects of chemical, poisonous and environmental hazards, and preparing for potential incidents such as a bio-terrorist attack.

The Health Protection Agency's role is to provide an integrated approach to protecting UK public health. The Agency also provides support to, and works in partnership with, government departments, local authorities, emergency services, and others who have health protection responsibilities.

The diverse nature of our work means we're able to offer you a range of career opportunities involving both national and international work - a number of our research projects are of global significance, and we often provide assistance overseas.
