Scheduled awareness courses covering the safety issues of human exposure to electromagnetic fields are provided as part of the HPA training programme.
These courses are designed specifically for different audiences, such as professional specialists (for example, local authority professionals dealing with environmental and planning issues), people with safety responsibilities, and those encountering sources of electromagnetic fields in their daily work, who may have only a limited understanding of the subject.
Details of forthcoming courses are given below.
These courses are intended to address the specific needs of customers, and can be carried out on the customers' premises, where appropriate, or at the CRCE Training Centre at Chilton. These range from short tutorials to in-depth courses extending over a few days provided for organisations with specific needs.
Provision of coherent advice on radiation protection, particularly in the area of electromagnetic fields and radiation, requires a unique blend of scientific disciplines. The HPA has teams of accomplished researchers active in the areas of biology, epidemiology, physics and engineering. Experts from any of these disciplines can be called upon to present modules towards a course programme tailor-made to the needs of customers and delivered at a level and duration to suit them.
Topics covered could include the following.
