The Laboratory of Gastrointestinal Pathogens (LGP) provides reference services for a wide range of gastrointestinal, and food and water-borne pathogens.  It is in the Department for Gastrointestinal, Emerging and Zoonotic Infections (GEZI), formed by the integration of epidemiological and microbiological services.

LGP was created by the merger of the Laboratory of Enteric Pathogens and the Food Safety Microbiology Laboratory.  LGP now consists of four reference units:

As well as providing reference services LGP has an active research programme.
