The Midlands

The HPA lead laboratory for the Midlands is based in Birmingham.

The Birmingham laboratory is also home to:

• The Regional Centre for Mycobacteriology which provides tuberculosis screening and diagnosis for the East and West Midlands.

• The Antiviral Susceptibility Reference Unit which is the national testing facility for the HIV and herpes viruses.
