FW&E Laboratory, Preston

The HPA Specialist Microbiology Service has one FW&E Laboratory in Preston.

This laboratory provides microbiological testing services for stakeholders including local authorities, port health authorities, the NHS and commercial companies. The laboratory serves local authorities in the North West, including Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire, Cumbria and includes the Manchester conurbation.

Specialist Microbiology Network
As well as the FW&E network, the Specialist Microbiology Network (SMN) manages a chain of microbiology laboratories which provide clinical testing and diagnostic services to the NHS and health sector.
