FW&E Laboratory, Birmingham

The HPA Specialist Microbiology Service has a FW&E laboratory in the West Midlands, Birmingham.

This laboratory provides microbiological testing for stakeholders including local authorities, the NHS and commercial companies in the Midlands, including areas around Birmingham, and the counties of Shropshire, Staffordshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Northamptonshire and Leicestershire.

As well as the FW&E laboratories, the Specialist Microbiology Network (SMN) manages a chain of microbiology laboratories which provide clinical testing and diagnostic services to the NHS and health sector.
