The panel provides a prompt assessment of new and novel equipment, materials, and other products or protocols that may be of value to the NHS in improving hospital infection control and reducing hospital acquired infections.
The Rapid Review Panel (RRP) has been convened by the HPA at the request of The Department of Health. This was outlined in Winning Ways: working together to reduce healthcare associated infection in England and Towards cleaner hospitals and lower rates of infection.
The panel has a preference for data from UKAS-accredited laboratories.
The United Kingdom Accreditation Service is the sole national accreditation body recognised by government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services.
