Overall, it is estimated that around 185,000 individuals in the UK are chronically infected with hepatitis C (HCV).

In 2008 in the UK, 8,655 cases of tuberculosis were reported, a rate of 14.1 per 100,000 population.
HIV in the United Kingdom: 2009 Report
The number of people living with HIV in the UK continues to rise, with an estimated 83,000 infected at the end of 2008, of whom over a quarter (27%) were unaware of their infection.

This updated version of the original Handbook, published in 2005, includes three handbooks to assist in the management of contaminated food production systems, inhabited areas and drinking water following a radiological incident.
