Confirmation of ESBL status and typing of ESBL producers

Susceptibility Testing and Strain Typing

Confirmation of ESBL production in E. coli and most Enterobacteriaceae is undertaken in ARMRL (Antibiotic Resistance Monitoring and Reference Laboratory), and typing of producers by molecular or other methods in LHCAI (Laboratory of HealthCare Associated Infection).

The exceptions are confirmation of ESBLs in, and typing of Salmonella and other enteric bacteria, which is undertaken by LEP (Laboratory of Enteric Pathogens)..
