Serological diagnosis of Syphilis

Across England and Wales, there is considerable variation in laboratory practice for the serological diagnosis of syphilis.  Improving the laboratory turnaround times for the diagnosis of syphilis would be a positive step in limiting the spread of infection.  A standard operating procedure for the serological diagnosis of syphilis has recently been developed by the HPA1.
