There is no current evidence of West Nile virus infection in the UK. However, in the event of a UK-acquired case of WNV infection the Department of Health's contingency plan should be followed. The plan defines roles and responsibilities of parties involved in tackling WNV infection in the UK and presents a strategy for limiting the impact of the virus.
