UK Clinical Mycology Network

UKCMN logo
The UKCMN was inaugurated in 2005 with an initial network of three centres and the HPA Mycology Reference Laboratory, under the auspices of the HPA Advisory Committee on Fungal Infection. The UKCMN aims to provide a centrally managed structure for the UK-wide coordination of mycology service delivery, mycological surveillance, medical and laboratory training, diagnostic development and translational research. To meet this aim the UKCMN encourages Mycology laboratories around the UK to join the network and have a say in this exciting and developing area. The UKCMN also provides advice to the Health Protection Agency. The UKCMN is managed by a Steering Committee of representatives from the different member centres as well as representatives from national mycology organisations.

UKCMN Mission Statement

The UKCMN will seek to ensure the provision of the highest standard of clinical mycology services, including the maintenance of quality across related disciplines, throughout the UK.

Key Objectives

The UKCMN sets out its main objectives in its annual work plan. The UKCMN also works to complete the five year objectives laid out in the ACFI report "Fungal Diseases in the UK". One of its main objectives is to host the UKCMN Annual Meeting to promote Clinical Mycology, good practice and increase membership of the network.
