UK Collaborative Group for HIV and STI Surveillance

• UCL Institute of Child Health (ICH): pursues an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to enhance understanding, diagnosis, therapy and prevention of childhood disease.
• CDSC Northern Ireland: Data on STIs HIV and other communicable diseases in Northern Ireland.
• Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSS&PS) Northern Ireland: The Department's mission is to improve the health and social well-being of the people of Northern Ireland.
• Health Protection Scotland: Data on HIV and STIs in Scotland.
• Information and Statistics Division (Scotland) of the Common Services Agency in Scotland provides information on an array of health topics including STIs.
• National Public Health Services for Wales (NPHS): provides the resources, information and advice to enable the Welsh Assembly Government, Health Commission Wales, Local Health Boards, Local Authorities and NHS Trusts to discharge their statutory public health functions.

Sites Providing Sexual Health Advice

• Sex. Worth talking about. There are two sites for this sexual health campaign:
  • Website with information for the general public: Talking about sex doesn’t have to be as difficult as you think. Whether it’s knowing about your contraceptive choices, explaining STIs, coping with emotions or understanding your body you'll find straightforward information and advice to make it easier to discuss everything to do with sexual health, right here.
  • Website for teenage pregnancy and sexual health professionals: This site is designed to be a resource to help you find out more about the campaign "Sex. Worth Talking About" and, over time, access campaign resource materials and share examples of relevant work.

• Terrence Higgins Trust (THT): THT was one of the first charities to be set up in response to the HIV epidemic and has been at the forefront of the fight against HIV, and improving the nation's sexual health, ever since.

• Healthy Schools: supports the link between good health, behaviour and achievement through a whole school approach. It offers close support and guidance to schools, primary care trusts and local authorities, and equips children and young people with the skills and knowledge to make informed health and life choices and to reach their full potential.
• NHS Direct Online: This site contains a general health information including a searchable database of conditions and treatments
• National Chlamydia Screening Programme (NCSP): Provides professional and general information on all chlamydial infections, contains links to numerous other useful sites.
• Herpes Virus Association (HVA) and Shingles Support Society: helping people with genital herpes simplex or shingles (herpes varicella) to help themselves.

• World Health Organization: Global data on a variety of diseases including HIV and STIs.

• British HIV Association (BHIVA): BHIVA has become the leading UK professional association representing professionals in HIV care. Now 15 years old, it is a well-established and highly respected organisation with national influence committed to providing excellence in the care of those living with and affected by HIV.
• British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH): Aims to promote, encourage and improve the study, treatment, public health interventions, care and education of sexually transmitted diseases including all sexually transmitted infections, HIV and other sexual health problems.
• National AIDS Trust (NAT): NAT is the UK's leading charity dedicated to transforming society's response to HIV.

• NAM Publications: aiming to combat the AIDS epidemic through accurate, accessible and up-to-date information.

• Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): Data on HIV and STIs in the USA.

• The National Study of HIV in Pregnancy and Childhood (NSHPC): is the confidential national (UK and Ireland) active reporting scheme for pregnancies in HIV-infected women, babies born to HIV-infected women, and other children with HIV infection and AIDS.

• Health Protect Report (HPR): is the national public health bulletin for England and Wales, and is published weekly on Friday
• Sexually Transmitted Infections: formerly known as Genitourinary Medicine, this journal publishes articles on sexual health including HIV and STIs
• British Medical Journal: offers scientific studies, review and educational articles, and papers commenting on the clinical, scientific, social, political, and economic factors affecting health
• Health Information Resources formerly National Library for Health: Library of electronic health resources intended to act as a source of authoritative evidence and best practice to support health care in the NHS.
• PubMed: the National Library of Medicine's online search facility which provides access to over 10 million citations in MEDLINE, PreMEDLINE, and other related databases, with links to participating online journals
