Health Protection Agency Board members reappointed

 Four non-executive members of the Health Protection Agency Board whose term of office had been due to end in March 2008 have been reappointed by the Appointments Commission.

Professor Charles Easmon has been reappointed for a further two years. Professor Easmon is Professor of Health Policy at Thames Valley University and Visiting Professor in the Division of Surgery at Imperial College .

Michael Beaumont, a chartered accountant and business development consultant, has been reappointed for a further three years. As Chair of the Audit Committee he receives £12,500 annually.

Ian Cranston, a chartered accountant who manages his own financial consultancy business, has been reappointed for one further year.

Professor Andrew Hall, a professor of epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, has been reappointed for a further three years.

The remuneration for non-executive Board members is currently £7,597 annually.

The Board establishes the overall strategic direction of the Health Protection Agency and has corporate responsibility for ensuring the Agency fulfils its aims and objectives.

Welcoming the reappointments, Sir William Stewart , Chairman of the Health Protection Agency said: “I am delighted that the Agency will continue to benefit from the contributions of these experienced Board members.”
