The Health Protection Agency today announced that Dr Paul Cosford has been appointed as interim Director of Health Protection Services for the next six months. Dr Cosford is currently Regional Director of Public Health for the East of England and will take up his post with the HPA on 6 September 2010.
This appointment is part of a programme of internal reorganisation to ensure that the HPA continues to meet the UK's health protection needs in the most efficient and effective way possible.
Announcing the appointment, Justin McCracken, Chief Executive of the HPA, said: "I am delighted that Paul is to join us. His appointment will help ensure that HPA's changes and the bigger changes associated with the creation of the new Public Health Service for England are properly co-ordinated."
