The WHO guidelines on Tuberculosis and air travel 2008 (3rd edition) : Further guidance for HPA staff

The WHO published the 3rd edition of “Tuberculosis and Air Travel” in June 2008. The NKS – TB has produced a guidance to provide further clarification to heath protection units (HPU) and public health staff coordinating a response to a tuberculosis (TB) incident associated with air travel. This document provides information on three broad areas relevant to a response at a local level. These include:

  1. Responding to a patient with tuberculosis who has recently travelled on a long haul flight
  2. Responding to a patient with tuberculosis intending to travel on a long haul flight
  3. Identification of a passenger with tuberculosis during air travel
