Tuberculosis is one of the most important diseases among those seeking asylum in the UK. Asylum seekers often arrive in the UK from countries in which the incidence of TB is high. Also, they may have been exposed to TB in overcrowded living conditions. They represent a vulnerable group for TB and therefore, it is important that staff working in Induction Centres and dispersed accommodation are aware of tuberculosis, its recognition and treatment services.
