The Yorkshire and the Humber Hepatitis Project Group includes representatives from the Health Protection Agency Yorkshire and the Humber and healthcare professionals from NHS organisations within the region.
Our aim is to work together to prevent the number of individuals infected with Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C disease from growing further in Yorkshire and the Humber. Evidence is emerging of the possible effectiveness of new approaches to prevention, such as the treatment of active injecting drug users, providing an opportunity to establish services in alternative settings, including primary care and drug services.
The project group also works closely with the Regional Hepatitis B and C Steering Group (RHBCSG), chaired by NHS North. This group works to suport local NHS services in the early detection and treatment of hepatitis B and C.
General information, including frequently asked questions on Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C can be found elsewhere on this website.
If you're a member of the public and are concerned that you may have hepatitis, you should contact your GP or go to NHS Direct for further information and advice. Further information on hepatitis can also be found from the websites included in the External Links section above.
If you're a health professional and you'd like to find out more about our work, you can contact the project team at yhhepatitis@hpa.org.uk
