Terms of Reference

1. Aim: to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective port health services
2. Reports: to LARS SMT
3. Membership:
   • LARS SMT Port Health lead – Graham Bickler
   • Port Health lead from every HPA Region
   • Nicol Black
   • APHA representative – John Craigs
   • CEO's office – Brian McCloskey
   • CfI – Jane Jones
   • LARS Divisional and Health Protection Business Manager – Steve Raven
   • Representatives of the Devolved Administrations (DAs)
4. Chair: LARS SMT Port Health lead – appointed by LARS Director
5. Meets: 3 monthly and as required
6. Purpose:
   • to implement the Port Health Action Plan
   • to maintain an oversight of all issues impacting on port health in the HPA
   • to plan and implement actions to ensure efficient and effective port health services
   • to support and advise the LARS Port Health lea
   • to agree and deliver an annual work programme
   • to ensure an appropriate response to the IHRs within LARS
7. External relationships. To maintain appropriate links to the Immigration Service, Customs and Excise, Home Office, carriers, professional groups and the DoH as appropriate
8. Internal relationships. To ensure effective relationships and links with other areas of HPA activity (TB, Pandemic Influenza, International Health, Travel and Migrant Health, IHR National Focal Point…)
