Eye of the Needle is the HPA's report on surveillance of significant occupational exposures to blood-borne viruses in healthcare workers.
Occupational exposures of healthcare workers to the risks of HIV, hepatitis B and C infection in the healthcare setting are an increasing public health concern. The HPA works with the Department of Health, using data collected through the surveillance scheme on occupational exposures to develop and monitor national policy and guidelines.
