The Health Protection Agency (HPA) collects large amounts of data on Sexual Health, HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). The HPA uses this data to provide information to local stakeholders by producing several reports, via an active web portal, and through ‘sexual health profiles’.
This document aims to provide local stakeholders, particularly NHS and local Health Protection Units (HPUs), with the key information they require in order to understand the STI & HIV data that is available for their area. This includes an overview of how HIV and STI data can be used and interpreted, how data is collected, the available publications, and where to go for more information.
