Authors:

Health Protection Agency, NHS

Publication date: May 2006

Synopsis

Asylum seekers often arrive in the UK from countries in which the incidence of TB is high. Also, they may have been exposed to TB in overcrowded living conditions.  They represent a vulnerable group for TB, so staff working in Induction Centres and dispersed accommodation must be aware of tuberculosis, its recognition and treatment services.
