This report presents the Board's most recent estimates of the radiation dose and the risks of radiation-induced leurkaemias and other cancers in children and young persons living in Seascale. It considers all sources of ionising radiation exposure: natural radiation; medical practices; fallout from weapons testing; releases, both routine and accidental, from the British Nuclear Fuels plc (BNFL) site at Sellafield; discharges from the Albright and Wilson plant at Whitehaven; the Chernobyl reactor accident. For releases from the Sellafield site, account has been taken of new information provided by BNFL following a comprehensive review of discharge data.
