Unit 5: Strategic oversight / assessment / coordination

The intensity, duration, and public health issues associated with international sporting events require a coordinated, strategic approach to planning and delivery.  Oversight and coordination for activities related to public health and medical services are the purview of the intersectoral body formed to provide strategic-level oversight (see Unit 4).  This group is responsible for securing adequate resources and staff and providing system-wide and venue-specific job training.  The group will provide direction and facilitate ongoing communication and management of joint planning and implementation processes during routine operations and ensure a quick transition into full-scale emergency response as required.
