Laboratory isolates of Corynebacterium diphtheriae and Corynebacterium ulcerans

Pharyngeal or cutaneous diphtheria is caused by toxigenic strains of C. diphtheriae and occasionally by C. ulcerans. The table below shows the isolates received by the Respiratory and Systemic Infection Laboratory (RSIL) for toxigenicity testing.
