The Health Protection Profiles cover a range of issues including:
The majority of the indicators are presented by Primary Care Trust level. This is because the health data that the HPA collects are often not available a smaller geographical areas and also because Primary Care Trusts have well defined population boundaries. Where data are available at Local Authority (local council) level, they are presented in a separate map. For a list of indicators and which level they are available at please look at our Indicator List.
These profiles are not intended to be used as league tables and only cover part of the remit of the Health Protection Agency. The data in the profiles are available on other parts of the website, apart from malignant melanoma (skin cancer) and asthma. These data are not part of the HPA's work areas but have been included due to their links with wider environmental hazards and as an outcome of the public consultation. Full details on any direct limitations of the data are available through the metadata, which can be accessed as a PDF file and through the more information button in the maps.
