Hepatitis means inflammation of the liver. The most common causes of hepatitis are viral infections. Hepatitis C is one such virus that can cause long-lasting infection and is transmitted when blood from an infected person gets into the bloodstream of another.

This template has been produced to help DATs and Health and Wellbeing Boards with estimating the prevalence of HCV in their local population (updated since the 2007 version which was estimated at PCT level). We are interested to receive feedback on the utility of this template, as it is our aim to continue to develop this tool as new information and data become available: HepatitisC.
