Lassa fever is endemic throughout Guinea, but most clinical cases have been reported from Kindia, Faranah and Nzerekore Regions. The southeastern region of Nzerekore is hyperendemic. Seroprevalance rates are low in the mountainous parts of Mamou and Labe regions, and in coastal areas.
