Necrotising fasciitis (NF)

Necrotising fasciitis is an rare but serious soft-tissue infection caused by a number of bacteria; one of these is Streptococcus pyogenes (also known as S. pyogenes or Group A streptococcus). Unless the infection is rapidly diagnosed and treated, the bacteria may cause gangrene, tissue death, systemic disease and toxic shock and can result in death.
