TB mortality data

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) publishes annual mortality data for England and Wales based on deaths certified and registered under the Births and Deaths Registration Act 1953.

 

Information on cause of death usually comes from the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death, which is completed by a medical practitioner and taken to a registrar by the informant, but may also come from a coroner's certificate.  Based on the information provided, an underlying cause of death is assigned according the World Health Organization's International Classification of Disease  system. TB deaths are coded A15-A19.
