This fourth national conference and exhibition in the series concerned with reducing healthcare associated infections will examine progress made and consider, in particular, antimicrobial resistance and the WHO policy and actions in this area.
Speakers include: Rose Gallaher (RCN), professor Sharon Peacock (Cambridge University Hospital), professor Jonathan Cooke (Imperial College) and Dr Bharat Patel (HPA).

The conference will address important public issues that have arisen in the past year and provide fresh perspectives on established areas of disease prevention and control. Short papers and posters on the following themes will be presented: healthcare associated infections; surveillance: data or intelligence; outbreaks: exploiting natural experiments; travel infections; and sexual health.

A conference covering the management of norovirus outbreaks that will mark the launch of new national guidelines developed jointly by infection control professional bodies and UK departments of health. The meeting will be of interest to the health sector, social care services, the cruise ship industry, those working in environmental health, the cleaning products industry and those working in infection control.
Speakers include: Brian Duerden, CBE, MD; Dr Bob Adak, head, Environmental and Enteric Diseases Department, HPA; Jim Gray, Specialist Virology Centre, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital; Mel Skip, public health manager, Carnival UK; and Liz Jones, head of patient environment, Department of Health.

Preliminary information about Health Protection 2012, the leading UK multi-disciplinary health protection conference hosted by the HPA working with stakeholder organisations, has been posted on the conference website, including the booking form for delegates and exhibition floor plans for prospective exhibitors.
The conference programme, due to be published in June, will cover latest developments in key areas of health protection and look ahead to the establishment of Public Health England in April 2013. Those wishing to receive further information, by email, about the conference programme as they become available over the coming months should send a request to hpaconference@hpa.org.uk with "Mailing list 2012" in the subject line.
