National Knowledge Service - TB Pilot

The National Knowledge Service tuberculosis pilot recognizes that patients and public need rapid access to point of care information about their disease and its treatment at all times. NKS for TB aims to raise awareness by working with charities and voluntary organizations already involved in supporting the patient and public e.g. Homeless Link and TB Alert.

The NKS-TB Project board comprises members from different professional backgrounds, with expertise and experience in the diagnosis, control and prevention of TB. Specific projects that are being undertaken as part of the pilot include:

• Development and piloting of information resources for Tuberculosis (TB) in prisons.
• Development and piloting of information resources for Managers and Staff of Hostels
  (In collaboration with the Homeless Link).
• Development and piloting of information resources for 'Pregnancy and TB' for healthcare professions - both doctors and mid-wives - as well as patients.
• Development and piloting of information resources for parents, schools and others working in the community on dealing with TB in children and school settings.
• Development and piloting of information resources for Tuberculosis (TB): Guidance for staff working with people seeking asylum.
