| Development of an alerting system for chemical health threats – The activities of this programme of work relate to the development of an alerting system for the deliberate release of chemicals by developing procedures and mechanisms for poisons centres to participate in an alert system that will identify and rapidly disseminate information on outbreaks of illness caused by exposure to chemicals. It also aims to identify requirements for the development of a health surveillance system for poisonings. | |
| The Public Health Response to Chemical Incident Emergencies Toolkit The CIE toolkit is an EU DG SANCO funded project which aims to reduce the burden of disease created by chemical incidents, with the development of a toolkit that provides guidance and training to enable public health care professionals to respond rapidly and effectively to any such incidents | |
DeNaMiC |
Description of the nature of the accidental misuse of chemicals and chemicals products DeNaMiC is an industry-funded project to determine if poisons centres data collection can be harmonised into a standard reporting format, and also to see if poisons centres are a feasible resource to aid risk asessment by collecting more detailed information on the circumstances involved in accidental poisonings and exposure to household chemical consumer products |

European Union Invasive Bacterial Infections Surveillance (EU-IBIS) Network - EU-IBIS established surveillance networks for invasive Haemophilus influenzae and Neisseria meningitidis disease in the EU countries in 2000. The overall aims of the EU-IBIS networks are to improve epidemiological information and laboratory capacity to characterise isolates of these two invasive bacterial infections within the EU. |
