Information resources for TB in prisons
The National Action Plan sets improvements in prison care as one of the essential activities to be undertaken in improving TB care. The National Knowledge Service - Tuberculosis Pilot in collaboration with the Department of Health and the Prison Health Services has developed information resources to increase awareness among prisoners and prison staff about TB.
In this resource for the "Prison Officials" the National Knowledge Service - Tuberculosis Pilot is targeting non-clinical prison staff who are providing care for individuals in prisons. It aims to raise awareness of TB. The resources provide information about symptoms of TB, testing, treating and supporting the individuals who have been diagnosed with the disease in prisons.
Information about TB for people in prisons is a cartoon leaflet intended for distribution to all prisoners during healthcare reception. This leaflet contains general information on TB including the symptoms, treatment and possible sources of infection.
The leaflet, "Got TB? Read This!" contains relevant information regarding treatment and management of TB for prisoners diagnosed with TB.
