Patrick Haggard obtained a BA Hons in experimental psychology from the University of Cambridge. In 1987 he received a Harkness Fellowship to study at Yale University from 1987 to 1988 and subsequently obtained his PhD at the University of Cambridge in 1991. He received a Wellcome Trust Prize Fellowship (1991-1994) for research at the University of Oxford Physiology Department and was a junior research fellow at Christ Church, Oxford.
He was a lecturer (1995-1998) and then senior lecturer (1998-2002) in the Psychology Department at University College, London. He was awarded a Leverhulme Research Fellowship for the period 2001-2003 and is presently Reader in Cognitive Neuroscience at University College, London. He has published in the fields of cognitive neuroscience and experimental study of behaviour.
