This document was a handbook to guide decision-makers through the available recovery options following an incident dispersing radioactive material in the environment. It contained a compilation of reliable, consistent and comprehensive information to help users identify the important issues and evaluate timely and effective actions and countermeasures. It was designed for use in the UK and was originally published (ISBN 0-85951-559-1) on CD and hard copy, and was also made available on the website as a suite of PDF files.

The document has now been withdrawn. Users should now use version 2, HPA-RPD-042, which is available on this website. A full update, version 3, should be available in 2009.
