Doctors.net.uk

Doctors.net.uk is an online internet training resource, created by doctors for doctors. Launched in 1998, over 105,000 doctors are now registered on Doctors.net.uk.

The Health Protection Agency currently uses this site to host its E-Learning training modules for GPs. Doctors.net.uk has also been chosen as the most effective way to train pre-hospital, A & E and ITU staff.

Flu pandemic

The structure of the course is that it first presents participants with an overview of the clinical and epidemiological elements of influenza; it then tests their pre-course level of knowledge with an MCQ; they are then taken through a series of clinical consultation and practice planning scenarios. The MCQ is then repeated to ensure that there has been an improvement in the level of the participants knowledge, and finally they are taken to an extended resource page.

The scenarios are designed to ensure that the participants become aware of all the major UK planning documents and sources of advice such as the DH and HPA pandemic influenza plans, the HPA patient information resources, the HPA guidance notes for health care professionals, the National Travel Health Network and Advisory Centre information resources for people traveling to influenza affected areas, and the NICE guidance on antiviral drugs.
