Silent Weapons
This conference style training programme was originally developed in 2003 to enable front line health staff to have a better understanding of the health implications and response to terrorist incidents.
Silent Weapons was adopted by the Health Protection Agency to become a national training initiative, and ran successfully throughout the UK for two years.
The new Silent Weapons training programme is now being launched, commencing on 7 - 8 May 2008, at Letchworth in Hertfordshire. The two day conference covers four key themes. These include deliberate chemical release, radiation incidents, bomb and blast injuries and deliberate biological release. The conference comprises lectures from experienced speakers, multi agency workshops, live demonstrations, interactive case scenarios hosted by experts, as well as plenty of opportunity to network with other front line colleagues.
The presence of police officers, fire and ambulance staff as well as emergency planners and managers allows significant cross-boundary working with contacts and ideas being developed for the benefit of all delegates.
Recent events have demonstrated that the extraordinary nature of these incidents presents a highly challenging situation for front-line staff. Silent Weapons is an excellent introduction to the structured response required to manage a wide variety of scenarios in a safe and appropriate manner.
