The team, based in London, gives round-the-clock, comprehensive, expert advice and support to the NHS and emergency services in London, the South East and the East of England.

The unit deals with:

• Chemical incident surveillance
• Environmental pollution
• Risk assessment
• Toxicology

For radiation incidents, the team is backed up by specialists from the Agency's Radiation Protection Division.
