Synopsis

This document sets out a validation scheme by which suppliers of passive radon detectors can demonstrate competence in the measurement of radon levels in UK dwellings and in the interpretation of those results. The scheme includes a review of the procedures used by each supplier, to ensure that an adequate quality system is in place, together with pratical tests that assesss their ability to measure radon by exposing detectors to known quantities of radon.

The aim of the validation scheme is not only to ensure good laboratory practice, and to address issues such as data protection, record keeping and dealing with complaints from customers.
