The Health Protection Agency (HPA) advises UK bodies with responsibility for protection against radiation on the applicability to the UK of recommendations issued by the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP). After a consultation process lasing several years, ICRP has issued new recommendations for a system of radiological protection (ICRP 2007). These recommendations replace the previous recommendations issued in 1991 (ICRP 1991).
Following a period of public consultation, HPA has developed its advice on the application of the new ICRP Recommendations to the UK. During the consultation, HPA posed twenty-five specific questions. Views on any other relevant aspects were also welcomed. The comments received were used to assist HPA in the development of its advice.
This document summarises the main comments received during the consultation period and HPA’s response to them. The revised advice is published in a separate document. Application of the 2007 Recommendations of the ICRP to the UK, Documents of the HPA, RCE-12
