The Health Protection Agency's Board is chaired by Dr David Heymann and comprises both non-executive and executive members.
The board members have corporate responsibility for ensuring that the Agency fulfils its aims and objectives and complies with any statutory or administrative requirements on the use of public funds.
To this end, and in pursuit of its wider corporate responsibilities, the board establishes the overall strategic direction of the Health Protection Agency within the policy and resources framework determined by the Secretary of State for Health.
The board meets approximately eight times a year both in London and in locations throughout the UK.
