LG Regulation/HPA Reports

Pages in a book

Local Government Regulation is the local government central body responsible for overseeing local authority regulatory and related services in the UK.

The Health Protection Agency works closely with the LG Regulation team to co-ordinate and participate in UK-wide surveys, targeted at specific food hygiene problems. These surveys combine direct observation on hygiene and practices with sampling, microbiological analyses and quality. Previous surveys have included food production, food service sector and retail foods, and have involved:

  • Investigating ways of monitoring improvements in food hygiene and safety
  • Risk communication
  • Emerging public health problems
  • Raw and ready-to-eat foods as well as food production environments.

A schedule of ongoing and upcoming studies is posted below.

The most recent LG Regulation/HPA reports are posted in the Food Sampling topic.
