Spa pools that aren't managed well can cause infections. They are a source of Legionnaires' disease and are subject to health and safety laws to ensure spa pools remain safe.

This guidance was produced by the Health and Safety Executive and the Health Protection Agency (now Public Health England) to increase understanding of the microbiological risks associated with using a spa pool or whirlpool bath, and to give advice on some of the control measures that can be used to manage these risks effectively.
