The antimicrobial treatment recommendations in the existing Public Health England (PHE) Clostridioides difficile: guidance on management and treatment (2013) have been superseded by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guideline on Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI).

A full update to the current PHE CDI guidelines is planned for later this year. Please continue to refer to the current PHE guidance for:

  • management of life-threatening disease
  • guidance on diagnosis
  • guidance on infection control
